REMEMBER KISS? THEY’RE STILL ROCKING AT ROCK & BREWS

Popular in the mid-1970s, KISS was a classic rock–n-roll band, crazy make-up and all. Band members Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley are still rocking at their restaurant venture, Rock & Brews. The brand was born backstage after a concert while the band was sharing a cold beer with concert tour promoter, David Furano, who posed the question: “What’s better than rock and brews?” A brainstorming session ensued and today, Rock & Brews is delighting customers with a full line-up of delicious food, including their signature wings, wood-fired barbecue, rustic hamburgers and a diverse range of soups and salads. And if you’re looking for a cold one, Rock & Brews offers over 100 different craft beers.

The atmosphere can’t be beat, with the options to dine outside in the patio area or around a fire pit. And you can join a game of corn hole while you’re there.

The little rockers in your group are welcome too, with a Li’l Rockers menu that includes hamburgers, pizza, grilled chicken kabobs and grilled cheese. And they get swag like rock-themed coloring templates. Best of all, there’s a play area so Mom and Dad won’t have to hear, “Are you done yet?”

CRAVING KOREAN BBQ? KANG HO-DONG BAEKJEONG IS THE PLACE TO GO

Voted “The Absolute Best Korean BBQ” by Grub Street, you can be assured everything will go well at Kang Ho Dong Baekjeong Buena Park. In fact, it’s in the corporate name “678 USA.” 678 is an oriental mathematical principle which translates as “Achieving the Great Work by Winning through Everything Wisely.”

But you don’t need to do math equations to dine here. Choose from beef or pork and watch it cook over hot coals at your table. Beaten eggs are pour into a special well of table top grill. Corn kernels and grated cheese are poured into another well. While the meat is cooking, the hot grill also cooks the eggs, grills vegetables and melts the cheese into the corn. The interactive cooking experience adds adventure to the meal and the mouth-watering results will having you craving more. This South-Korean based chain has US outlets in New York, New Jersey and in the Los Angeles area. Fortunately, there’s one included in the list of Buena Park restaurants.

EXPERIENCE COMFORT FOOD WITH A TWIST AT SUP NOODLE BAR

What happens when you top a mountain of French fries with shredded cheddar cheese, caramelized onions, slow cooked short ribs and the signature sauce of Sup Noodle Bar? You get “shaken fries,” otherwise known as heaven on a plate. And that’s just the appetizer! If you’re looking for a lighter appetizer, try the signature spring rolls: bean sprouts, mints and lettuce wrapped in rice paper and served with peanut sauce.

For the main attraction, choose from a variety of specialty noodles. The chef’s special, Garlic Noodle with Grilled Prawns, made from organic wheat noodles, butter, garlic, parmesan cheese, secret sauce and scallions sounds good to me!

Chef Viet Ha drew inspiration from his childhood in North Vietnam to create classic dishes. Sup Noodle Bar is built on a single foundation: crafted by comfort food lovers, made for every food lover. Some call it Asian Fusion, some call it Vietnamese and some call it Peruvian. You’ll call it delicious.

DON’T MISS MRS. KNOTT’S CHICKEN DINNER RESTAURANT

It began in 1934 when Mrs. Knott and her children started serving guests in their tea room. It’s grown into one of the largest restaurants in California and has become a family tradition for more than 80 years.Mrs. Knott’s Chicken Dinner Restaurant still serves the classic fried chicken dinner using Mrs. Knott’s recipes exactly like it did in that tea room back in 1934.

The complete chicken dinner comes with three pieces of fried chicken, mashed potatoes smothered with gravy, choice of cabbage or cherry rhubarb, side salad and handmade biscuits. The boysenberry was originally created at Knott’s Berry Farm, so it should come as no surprise that boysenberry pie and boysenberry sherbet are on the dessert menu. Even better, boysenberry-infused cocktails are available at the restaurant’s full service bar. Cheers!
